Lighting Design - The Tempest

The Tempest is one of my favorite plays of Shakespeare.  It is full of strong dynamic drama, extreme comedy, intrigue and cunning, and a great deal of magic.  Featuring magical characters and mysterious happenings, it is a joy to watch this play.

Using a very flexible set, the lighting needed to strongly support the magic and intrigue moments.  Lighting needed to distinguish between the inside of the box and the outside, allowing each to exist as separate areas.  Each island location had a different feel to it, united by the ever-present magic and mischief.  A flexible rig and carefully shaped light helped to enhance this fantastic production.
